The total of six Mahler recordings, including the songs that Kramperer left on the former EMI label in stereo, are among the best of all the Mahler recordings, along with Walther’s. Treating it as an extremely objective symphonic work, unlike Walther’s emotional expression, Krämperer’s Mahler is more authentic in its high sound quality. One of the greatest legacies of all time is revived. In order to achieve the best sound quality at present, the original analog master tapes in the UK were digitized at 96kHz/24bit (songs only at 192kHz/24bit) and mastered separately on SACD and CD. Limited to 1,500 sets with a serial number. Klempererer has released a total of five pieces in this series on an irregular basis. This release follows the release of Mozart’s symphony collection as a large scale reprint. In addition, this is one of the best Mahler recordings on the former EMI label’s Krämperer. As you know, Kramperer was actually in contact with Mahler’s conducting and was present at some of his premieres. As a conductor of the direct transmission of Mahler’s music, he has gained great support from his listeners as well as Walther. However, his style is the opposite of Walther’s, and it is very interesting to note that Kroenpeller’s unique interpretation comes to the fore. This six-disc set contains all of Kramper’s session recordings of Mahler’s works on the former EMI label, as well as many other live recordings, but it’s clear that the ideas and interpretations of each work differ greatly from those of the later conductors. For this latest reprint, the original analog master tape has been newly digitized to a high quality. Although high-resolution sound sources, including SACDs, have been available on the market up to now, the masters are in good condition and we believe we have mastered them in an extremely orthodox way. Each piece is in a little better or worse condition regardless of the age of the recording, but No. 2 in particular is of a high quality that is as good as any current recording, and I think it shows its true value, including its texture. With the improved perspective of each instrument, the tone and position of each instrument, especially the Kromperer, are recorded in opposing positions, so that you can enjoy Mahler even more from an audio standpoint.
